What's your thoughts of PTA "CLICK"

PTA's strong resistance in Buena Terra Elem. is unbearable!! I love the school, teachers, staffs, students, & parents. Struggled to fit in for 5 five yrs. before I gave up!! Tried to tallk to the Principal asked for help!! But ignored. Had fundraised almost $13,000 for district and school but denied of PTA volunteer coord. pos. for 2 yAccepted dif. pos. Never acknowledged with such fundraising effort nor given a certificate. But not even interested with that just ask for PTA acceptance. But was told by the Principal, she cannot make the PTA accept me. What an INSULT!!Principal never shared my fundraising effort with anyone instead I was accused of putting up my own PTA!! ABSURD!!! She was aware of my proposals of putting up a foundation. Why do you think she accused me as such??? My family is happy though that we finally found a school that suits our needs which is GB Miller. Will appreciate your thoughts!!!How do you deal with the PTA "CLICK"!!

i just want to say that for years we have had a pta click at our school. finally we decided to take over. so many of the parents at my school said enough is enough. so a few of us ran for the position and now we run the pta. we get alot of crp from the old pta but we don't need them. we have our event calendars with dates by back to school night and have parents sign up. then we call them. we do not turn anyone away. we were turned away and know how it feels. we have a very successful pta and have many parents who we have approached and got on a first name basis. we make them know that we need them. until you get new people in that care about the kids and not themselves you will always be left out.

I am in a PA where the status quo was purely Italian. Now a an African American I am getting all of the stigma that comes from being African American. The principal, tries to turn people from supporting the PA and it can be seen throughout the school. The parent coordinator tries to appear as if she is helping but she is more a hindrance than a help. She basically just do what he says. She does the same broken workshops year-in, year-out, and as much as 5 people attend on a good day that these workshops are given. The principal is good at undermining efforts. This year he does not appear to care that we need translated devices to aid with parents who do not speak English, he also does not want parents to be involved at the school. Every effort that I try to get parents to become involved he and the AP of security try to shut down. How do I succeed when teachers and the students are throwing notices out. Teachers do not even attend meetings when invited. Many are even disrespectful to me as the parent leader. So I understand how you feel, But we cannot give up in our efforts. The "clicks" eventually will have to leave. Curious to know how to raise $13,000, what was your fundraiser?
