You might want to call Neuhaus. It's an organization that teaches teachers and parents about dyslexia. They could probably steer you toward some schools. And you talking about private special ed school, right? These schools require you to have your child tested, a psycho-social examination, as part of the admissions process. The person you choose to do that testing will also likely know a lot about the schools in the area and be able to give you feedback about which ones would be a good fit for your daughter. Briarwood has an excellent reputation and has a program for children with developmental delays. And if you call Briarwood, don't be shy about asking them about the other special ed schools in Houston. In my experience, the focus of the people at special ed schools is all on doing what's best for the child. They will gladly tell you about the other schools in their area. Good luck.

The thought occurred to me that you might be better off asking your daughter's doctors if they know of any parent support groups in your area, and then, once you meet other parents of similar-needs children, you can ask them for recommendations about which schools are best able to meet their children's needs...

Hasel is 7 years old, she has mental and motor functions retardation.
She has been in 2 diferent schools on the same district, but i saw a lot of progress on Tipps Elementary School.
We need to find a school with good reputation on Special Needs Children(OT, PT, ST, etc), and based on that, then we'll look for a house.

I've found this site to have good and accurate information about the schools in my area: www.ldresources.org/

I'd also recommend that you should:
1. Visit the schools and ask hard questions of the teachers, admissions and parents
2. Speak to local LD groups
3. Speak with your evaluators
4. Include your child in the decision, if possible

Best of luck.

What type of LDs does your child have, and how old is he/she? I'm not from Texas, but I know certain schools may have better reputations for certain types of disabilities....
