Don't take every doctor's opinion as gospel, they can be wrong and I can give you too many examples. You know your own child better than anyone else and if something doesn't sound right, by all means, get another opinion.
Are you asking if someone's child has problems with either of these? If so well yes. My daughter has problems with her short term memory, but more along the lines of recall. She was just tested with a short term memory test. I think it was a joke. She also has OCD and part of her OCD is to repeat what people say. So, when they did the test and told her things and then said repeat it, DUH! Of course she will do that. But, if you say tell me later what I said. She can't. So, Her recall is not soo good. As for long term memory, she can't recall that either. Unless it is learned in some great way or it it a memory that has an impact on her. I hope this helps.
