South Carolina Schools

joerae
I am planning a move to the Charleston area and it is just overwhelming to research all the schools and neighborhoods. Anyone live in the area willing to guide me some? Looking for a high rated school in a good neighborhood that is not overtly expensive. DS will enter the 5th grade in 08-09 school year. I was looking at Ashley River Creative Arts School in West Ashley but do not know much about the area. I do plan to visit the area prior to the move but want to be able to eliminate what is not good prior. Hope y'all can help.

Hello 77 speedy,
Thank you for your response. We have indeed moved to the Charleston area and found a great school with which we are very pleased.

Daniel Island is lovely and the school is very good. We have spent time at the park on DI and it was great fun. A very pleasant community.

I plan on visiting Bishop England to learn more for my son's upper school years. They have had an impressive record.

As for the schools in Charleston County, as with schools across the country, it's what one puts into the effort that dictates what one receives. Just as in life!

Did ya'll move to charleston?
I used to live in charleston,SC
we used to live in Daniel Island a very ,very beautiful town, we lived in an apartment complex in blakeway st check it out, the school there is good, overall charleston's schools are not to great , you might have trouble with the adults in chaleston there aren't friendly, there are a little to snooty.
We moved from charleston to georgia and I'm impress of the schools in columbia county in georgia i love it
If you haven't found a church Seacoast Church in mount pleasant your kids will love and adults also, we miss Seacoast Church and Daniel Island.

Hi mamameg,

It's great to hear that someone else is considering a move there. I'm not sure where Summerville is but I'll have a look at it. I am also planning a late summer move depending on a few issues that need to be resolved. Would love to keep in touch with you. I would be happy to share information with you as I come across it. I plan to rent first to make sure I've hit a good area but it's the school that is most important to me. What grade(s) will your Child(ren) be entering? Gosh! I have a million questions about all of this.

I am looking to move there also. My research has indicated Summerville gifted school.

I would also look forward to hearing from any parents in the area. I am moving there in June this year. I was going to post today for parents in the Summerville, SC area.
