Well, since you're talking about Houston, which is gigantic, I guess I can give you names of the most prestigious schools.
For elementary and middle school, I seem to hear that Village is the best.
For high school, St. Johns in the best.
Note, those are all private.
For public schools(where my knowledge is slightly limited), Fort Settlement or First Colony is extremely good and have one of the nation's top math programs. For High School, I hear Memorial High School, Clements High School, Bellaire High School, Cinco Ranch High school pretty often.
Check www.greatschools.net/city/Houston/TX , there you will be able to compare the schools and you can find what will fit best for your child. I used to live in Cypress area which the schools are great, challenging curriculums, it depends where you live, but check it out to find your school of your choice, best advise is choose the schools rated from 7 and up to 10/10.
Thank you very much for your information; right after I asked the question; I found the Research tab you are suggesting to use. The tab is very helpful so I hope to find the best school for my daughter since she will be starting school soon.
Great Schools is a nationwide community so it might be a while before anyone from your area can respond. I'd suggest by starting with the "Research and Compare" feature in the upper left hand side of the web page. There you can type in your zip code and get and idea of schools in your area.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
