Want to move to Ny

Kravitz1967
I live in Apopka florida and am trying to convince my husband to move back to the Rochester Ny area. Does anyone have any advice for me? I am trying to find info on the area schools (Greece mostly) to compare and show him our kids would receive a better education there.

I live in Rochester, Ny and we might be moving to Apopka (we are definitely moving to the Orlando area) just waiting to sell the house my husband is already down there. I got lucky with the schools in Greece because my children got into both lottery schools. I think West Ridge has a smaller waiting list than Pinebrook. Any sugestions on schools in Apopka for Elementary and Middle. You can go on a website rate the school what grade levels?

I live in the Rochester NY area and the schools are great! NY gets a bad rep because of high taxes, but the schools reflect the cost.

I grew up near Albany NY (also great schools), because my mother decided to give FLA a try (after her divorce) I attended middle school in Orlando and St. Petersburg FLA. The schools there were years behind what I had been learning in NY, I didn't have to study and pulled A's, but when I moved back I needed to play catch up.

If your children are almost finished with school I would stay, but if their just getting started I would want to move back. In my experience the NY school systems seem to have higher standards and the schools in FLA seem more relaxed. Many of the students move-in and out of the state and so do the teachers.

Also, the main difference I personally experienced was the amount of violence and drugs present within the school I attended in Orlando. I was there in the early 90s and my school had a full-time police officer at the school and I was in a relatively good area (kinda sad for eighth grade).

As a whole FLA is very nice to visit, but I much prefer living in NY. I'm glad to have my daughter enrolled in NY schools, her friend is moving to FLA soon and I wish her the best. I'm sure FLA has some wonderful schools. However, as a student who attended both, I saw a world of difference.

Hope this helps you
