San Antonio, has many bad neighborhoods, and of course that leads to a bad environment. But there are still some great schools, such as Windcrest Elementary, who has plenty of staff, is located in a wonderful neighborhood. The area around it, would include a golf course. When I had gone there they stimulated us by having every class make up a soccer team. Made me proud to go to school, to know I was needed. They teachers are fantastic, the staff is wonderful. Also, the new school developed the in the Royal Ridge area, the new school has an outstanding teacher ratio, it's students are happy, with a new school. Royal Ridge was built last year ( I watched our large neighborhood field be taken down, and a school rise up from it ) I have been it in only a couple of times, but the looks, and how some people talk about it, makes it what it is. Royal Ridge Elementary is a clean school, with enough qualified staff to be able to help you.

I would start with these to narrow down some of the schools then ask your realtor about neighborhoods and find the best mix / match combination.
