ok good, well their are lots of magnet schools in Columbus Public too but I'm not sure how the enrollment works. They have afrocentric, language emersion, and later an arts school. I would show up at the downtown office and share your concerns rather than work it out on your own. Also, both orgs I gave you before can also refer you to a charter.

No was too late waited till the last minute it did not work out. I am not sure where I will be though by the time my son goes back to school in September. I had to get him out of the public school he had started last year. We were on the move, job changes and lack of job on my part so he was not doing well I decided to keep him home with me since he had just turned 5. Our family is on the process of choosing the place to settle done. Daddy has a new job and we will be moving again soon. I was trying to get ready for the next school year. Thanks for all the information it was really helpful, now that I know I have somewhere to find mothers like me to get info. I will keep intouch.

No problem!

Did you apply at a private school? Did you apply for the EdChoice voucher?

Hi there! Not much time left to use an Ed Choice voucher. The deadline is Friday April 18th. I would call Ohio BAEO in Columbus -- they have a list and can recommend a couple of schools.
here is their contact info:
COLUMBUS OFFICE
1393 E. Broad St., Suite 104
Columbus, OH 43205
614.252.7901
Fax: 614.252.7910

School Choice Ohio has been polling schools to find out which have space left for Ed Choice. I don't have their number but I think you can find them on the web at scohio.org

BTW If I lived in Columbus still (I used to for 10 years) I would try for the private girls school on Broad St. (though I'm not sure how many if any Ed Choice vouchers they accept -- it was 1 or 2 a couple years ago).

Every school choice though is about finding the right school for your child -- so my choice and yours may never line up. This process can take time and energy but its worth it to ensure good educational outcomes for your child.
Good luck!

I am not from Ohio, however, my son use to go to a private and my husband and I also went to a private school in the city here. When you are looking at the schools ask them for their testing scores as a school and how they are ranked. At least here you would contact in Illinois the Peoria Diocese and they could give you a lot of information in this area. So if it is a Catholic private school in your area that you are looking for find out what diocese they belong to and they should be able to give you even more than what the school can. Good luck!
