New to Central Indy area and need advice on the best school for a high schooler with Autism

rayzak
I need to find a home in a great school district for a child with Autism with in the next couple of days before I go back to Florida. There is so much info around I have wasted half of my house hunting time trying to weed through it all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Rayzak: Sorry I found this site and your question a year late...I hope you found a good high school. If you are still looking, and would consider a private school, here is the best school in Indy for high-functioning kids on the autism spectrum: The Independence Academy. You can learn more at: www.TheIndependenceAcademy.org

I just did a quick "google" search and found this: www.iidc.indiana.edu/irca/ServArticles/Chapters.html

Unfortunately, Greatschools forum is relatively new, and the chance of finding someone from the same city/state, with a child the same age and having the same diagnosis is slim. If I were you, I'd try to find a local parent support group in the Indy area, and see if any of those parents can advise you... (I'm in IL, and we have an organization called the ARC, but I'm not sure if they're also in Indiana)
