Is there anyone in Milwaukee, WI who would like to discuss local school choices?

Goldberg
I'm interested in being part of a group to talk about Milwaukee K-12 schools. We have so many choices, and the schools and school environments change frequently. I'd love to talk about which ones have good features and which ones to avoid, etc. Anyone else?

What did you decide to choose for middle school? I am in the same situation you were in Jan. Thanks!

I am looking for guidance on choosing a middle or 6-12 school for my daughter currently in 5th grade.

Call the GreatSchools Milwaukee Hotline at 414.297.9715, and a school coach (probably Nzinga) will call you back and talk to you about all the options. Middle school is a tough one, here, isn't it!

I'm a parent of a 5th grader who attends Academy of Accelerated Learning which is a school we've loved since she first attended in K4. Now we're looking for a middle school that has high educational priorities while accomodating our daughter's creative, learn-by-doing style. There are some good specialty schools in mps, but most are extremely difficult to get into. I'm frustrated with the public schools in Milwaukee because I believe my daughter deserves the best education I can give her. We don't qualify for choice and not sure we're ready to give up with public schools and go the private school route yet. I'd love some advice on how to navigate through the 3 choice selection process, 220 program and open enrollment.

I would love to send my kids to a great public school, unfortunately I cannot afford the wealthy districts, and I believe public schools everywhere have become oppressive - too much homework, and not enough joy of learning. Luckily in Milwaukee we use Choice to send our children to a private school. I would love to hear about local schools that parents absolutely love, because you can't always tell from test scores.

There's great schools in Milwaukee and they all offer different things. My friends children go to Brown Deer Schools and they enjoy it very much its very diverse and has great schools.=)
