I need advice on summer camps for a pre-schooler???

carmenita
I'm seeking information on a great summer camp for my 4 yr old son. His father has recently relocated to Atlanta (Buckhead). Any ideas?

Ok, honestly, I find it ridiculous that the middle class sends their kids away to camp for the summer. Go to a suburb, it's empty, then go to a city community and it's full of children.

Your son is 4. He does not need to go to camp. He needs to play outside around his home, go to play dates, etc. There's plenty of learning and fun around his home. Go to the library, the park, etc.

GREAT IDEA! I hadn't thought of that. I have a tele-meeting with the owners today so I will definetly ask for references.

Thanks :)

I'm not from Georgia, so I'm afraid I can't help you at all...it sounds good, though.
I wonder if they would be willing to give you a list of "references" (parents of kids who were enrolled last summer) and see if they're re-enrolling their children this year, or if not, why not...

I'm aware of the time constraints :( I'm very familiar with the YMCA programs however, if Atlanta is anything like Houston, it difficult finding suitable ones in or near the downtown areas (like Buckhead).

I did however find a learning center (Kids-R-Kids) which offers a summer program and has availability. It's located in the suburbs..diverse demographic make-up, offers a curriculm, includes activities and feild-trips.

Any comments on this center?

Are you seeking a camp that provides before/aftercare (basically an all-day babysitting program?) While I'm not familiar with the Atlanta area, I know many YMCA programs do offer such arrangements, but registration periods for those programs often begins in Feb/March, so I'm not sure if they would have openings available at this point. You might check to see if they make any exceptions for transferees....
