Hi my name is Louanna and I am from New York City. I love the city it is great but the public school system is pretty competitive and if you want your child to get in the top public schools you have to make sure that your child scores in the 97%. It is hard for my son scored just below, he made 95% and was not accepted. I live in the upper west side district in Manhattan and there are a few schools that are great there like p.s. 87. That schools is not so competitive and it does great academically. It also caters for the art and gifted kind of child. It is a calm school and you do not have to worry about you child while being at school. The P.T.A is wonderful and is pretty active. There is also lots of celebs that have there kids attend the school. I am sure you must of heard of the sex in the city star cynthia nixon and a few others that I would like to mention but do not have the time. For elementary there is Sara Anderson for the gifted and talented, and for the middle to high school the is Columbia secondary school Math Science and Engineering, Delta Honors Program, Computer school, Hunter collage, Bronx Science, City collage math, science and engineering, Styverson and a whole lot more these are top schools in the manhattan district and is really competitive. There are also really great schools in the upper east side of Manhattan that are not so competitive but are in safe neighbourhoods and you would be pleased with the level of their education system. Your child would have a great start to there University of choice after attending these schools.
From here, you can check out info about schools and districts in the city, as well as schools and districts nearby. Hope this helps!
