How would you present PTO, PTSA or Parent Leadership Programs, for consideration to a rural school?

BeAVoice
As a proposed suggestion, we presented to our local school board some information to consider bringing more parent leadership to our small rural community. The board felt this school was already in a position to handle all parent -teacher - student -discussions and opted not to consider supporting any PTSA, PTO, or Parent Leadership program. Could small rural school systems benefit from any Parent involved organization?

Dear Healthy11,
Have you ever heard of KSA Plus Communication? I see a great need for parent involvement in our small rural schools. Based on endless hours of internet searching, I found KSA's "The Case for PARENT LEADERSHIP."

My husband's family has attended our school for nearly 100 years. I have never heard of any involvement with any orgainzed PTA, PTO, PTSA or any program for parent involvement other than parent-teacher conferences or school fund-raisers, within this school district. Our first born started school in the late 80's, our second son graduated last spring and our youngest son is in his junior year.

Here is the website www.parents.ksaplus.com
I would be interested in your view of this program.

I was involved in the PTA when my son attended a public school, and I'm on the Parent's Club Board of my son's current private school, but I don't know exactly what you mean by Parent Leadership Program...can you elaborate? Is there any sort of "Parent's Group" in existence now?
