I went to high school in New Orleans and now live in Katy. So far, I have not found any school that compares with the education that I received at the private school that I attended (Ursuline Academy). That being said, the Katy public schools are certainly better than the New Orleans public schools. It depends on what grade level you are looking for. My daughter went to Pattison Elementary and it served us well. However, when it came to middle school, we chose a private school. One big issue at Pattison is the focus on the testing and test scores. While they focus on all of the test, the biggest gap in education is in math. The instruction and homework is geared to the TAKS. I've noticed that the text books are written to also accomodiate the TAKS (and I'm sure other state's test). You will notice that the chapters are set up for a brief study of geometry, algebra, fractions, etc. So there is a little of "this" and a little of "that", not a lot of practice on anything. My daughter has required a tutor to fill in the gaps caused by this kind of curriculum. There are several very good private schools in the area as well. While they may use the same type of text book, in general, their curriculum and teaching methods aren't 'test' focus, so the children get more of a real teaching and learning environment.

I'm not sure if that zones into the school I think it does, but Katy (this is actually known for it's top 10 HS football program in the nation) and Katy Taylor are both solid high schools.

I don't live near New Orleans, so I don't know of any specific schools, but have you tried searching on the GreatSchools website? If you go to www.greatschools.net/modperl/go/LA you can use any of the four search functions to find schools near you. You can find parent comments, test scores and other helpful information to help you narrow your search.
