In My Own Words

I am parent of two daughters; one entering 4th grade in the fall and the other starting middle school. I am also a literacy coach in an inner city middle school. One of my daughters is learning disabled and I am having trouble with her school. I have joined this parent community in hopes of getting connected to others with my struggles and also to get advice on how to deal with the school when getting the services my daughter needs. My oldest daughter is great at reading, writing and social studies but struggles with math. She takes ballet, which she loves, and is going to try out for the swim team next year. My youngest daughter really struggles with reading and writing but is at grade level with math. She has troubles with being bullied or excluded by her peers. She is a great artist and athlete, however, and has a great sense of humor.
