In My Own Words

I have a tendacy to be a overprotective mother but I am very much cool. I use a lot of wisdom that was taught to me from my granny. I was raise in foster care and promise myself that my children will not go through what I went through as a child. Basically what I am saying is I want my children to have what I did not have and that was two parents that love them even through circumstances. I am not the perfect parent but I see things that parents do that should not be. So I learn by not making the same mistakes. Parenting is not easy and when you give birth to that child it changes your whole life. You began to honor responsibilities and take on some easy situations and some hard. Growing up I had difficulties in learning in school but it was because of teachers putting me down and making feel like I was nothing. I had children pick on me because of the color of my skin and because I was a foster child. So I understand what these children go through-bullying, learning disability that I overcame but it was due to situations dealing with foster care. I was always in court, doctors visits, kennedy kriegar visits were always a must. Some people do not know that foster children are misunderstood and are usely left behind. In the picture above is my family that I love and adore and would not trade them for the world. My 13yr old who struggle with learning difficulties far as comprehension skills is doing excellent in his school I am so proud of him and he plays lacrosse for his school. My 7yr old who is aware of his surroundings. He rarely ask for help in his homework and is very good at math. He loves multiplication something I was not good at. And last but not least my husband who keeps our family in prayer. He speaks positive words and verses from the bible to our 13yr old for him to make it through the day and that is wonderful. My sons are awesome kids even though they can grow a few grey hairs for me but it is worthit. I work with younger children in headstart so I am understanding when it comes to early childhood. I always advise people make sure your child gets a start in early childhood programs it helps your child with social skills and teaches them independants skills as well. So when they do enter public or private schools they will be ready and on point. I am a easy person to talk to and will not judge you because I have faults of my own and I am not perfect but when it comes to education I am on top of making sure my children are on point. I tell my 13yr old just do the best you can do and it will get better. So my youngest is going to be transferring to Cross Country Ele/Middle school it is a great school and I would suggest that school and Roland park and other great schools that you must find to reassure that your child is getting a decent education.
