Parenting Choices I have made include: Extended breastfeeding (4 yrs), babywearing, disposable diapers, vaccinations, kosher (Leviticus) diet, co-sleeping (6 yrs), etc but I am not "granola" enough to go green, eat organic, become vegan, or any of that kind of stuff. I participate in the PTO and classroom as much as possible but I am not a "soccar mom" - I am not that coordinated, competetive, or driven. My choices in parenting are simply MY choices; I will support you in yours to the best of my ability (even if I don't personally agree) because we all have to make choices we can live with in our own hearts & homes.
We have tried Homeschooling, Private Schooling, and are currently involved with the Public School system. We attempt to suppliment her educational experience with unlimited access to quality books & attending public events as much as possible. I'm more of the passive parent. My philosophy is similar to the Montessori viewpoint; "simply provide oppertunities so the kid can explore whatever they find interesting"... then you don't have to say NO as often because the kid is occupied with good stuff.
Politically: I guess you could say I am a traditional concervative parent who is happy to live in a progressive or even Liberal world as long as that does not prevent me from living my life my way. I'm all about Liberty and preserving rights but I also support providing a buffer when someone falls so they can pick themselves back up. I am not going to catch and carry you if you fall... but I will be happy to lay a safety mat so you don't break when you hit the dirt.
Parents I'd Like to Meet
I like to meet people who are interested in a peacefull exchange of ideas and who can accept coexisting in a world with others who don't always agree. I like people who are involved in their family and enjoy sharing with others.
I am particularly interested in learning from others who are learning to deal with special needs; Asperger's Syndrome, ADD, and Duane's Syndrome Strabismus.
