In My Own Words

As a Specialized Reading Tutor and Learning Skills Therapist a typical day in my hectic life revolves around my career and owning and operating my own businessin NC. I have been a reading specialist for over 20 years but everyday is new and exciting. I spend my day teaching students with mild to severe learning difficulties. Iprovide tutoring with learning skills and information processing problems. Of course my main goal is to help the student learn more efficiently and improve in the classroom but a major proirity is to instill the love of learning. Most of my students have struggled since Pre K, failing despite IEP's, dislike school and learning , and are suffering from low self esteem. I love to see the report card improve but most importantly I love reaffirming the natural excitement and curiousity that the student once had.
