Hi my name is Jodi, I'm the parent of two teenage daughters, so don't try to call me, they're always on the phone. Oh, they do chat on the internet, so they're like other children, they just have a time limit. Well, some of my favorite parenting times, there are a lot and I'm sure there will be more. God saw fit to give me two complete opposite children, born one year apart to the day! They are as different as night and day, but they could pass as twins.
Well, my daughter S. has had to struggle her whole school life with a learning disability and speech problems (well she had her own language). We fought from the time that she was two-it was an up-hill battle, but she arises now. From not talking, an IQ at retardation level to now she is in the 8th grade and she has been on the Honor Roll, all regular classes (except English), no more speech therapy, and her own profitable mowing business!! I put this as a inspirational, hopeful anecdote for parents, it is possible to awaken the brain and you must keep pushing, do not back-slide, forward is the only direction you go. And you pray and cry with them, you stay closely involved in their school, teachers and policy. You have to make them follow the IEP's, it's hard but they can succeed. Just pray!
Wonder about my other daughter M. she is a highly intelligent, honor roll since kindergarten, does not even have to open the book type of girl. A big hearted drama queen diva, that has yet to be challenged. My house is totally never dull, not a moment!!
Parents I'd Like to Meet
I would like to meet other parents who want to change the public school environment overall.
I would like to meet parents that are interested in holding the schools responsible for our children's education.
I would like to meet parents who have children who believe that college is necessary.
I would like to meet parents that think to much homework is given, and not enough class learning and teaching time.
I want to meet parents who want to fight for "No Child Left Behind".
