In My Own Words

I am passionate about ensuring my family is a family, by that I mean that the family actually comes together and is a united front that share our lives. I know so many people who seem to be ships in the night and rarely connect with their partner and children. As such I try to do as much as possible with our daughters and try to make sure dinner is served at the table, we chat and everyone gets to talk about their day. Already our eldest daughter is 9 and I am concious that soon I will be an embarrassment to her - especially if I keep on doing the funky chicken impression in the supermarket!! I have been a single parent in the traditional sense of the word and now, although happily married, live on a different continent to my husband! So life is pretty hectic with work, children, pets, hobbies, keeping a telephone relationship going with my husband and preparing for our move - whoever said there are not enough hours in the day has never tried to live a life in two time zones :) MY absolute pet peeve are parents who seem incapable of saying "No" to their children and thinking it is "cruel" to set boundries and give children rules and responsibilities. Rules are all over the world so if you don't teach them to your children in a loving manner when they are small they are going to be in for a lifetime of trouble when they need to learn to live with them in the big bad world - nobody stops to tell explain why a rule is a rule when you are a "Grown-up" - Sorry mini-rant moment but that is how peeved it makes me!!

Parents I'd Like to Meet

We are in the midst of a big transatlantic move and I would love to hear from anyone who has "been there, done that and bought the t-shirt!". I would love to hear from anyone who is not afraid to say "NO" to their children. We are a military family so I would be please to hear from anyone who is in the same position. I am interested in education and take an active role in my childrens education in the UK, I obviously will continue to do so when we move so if you are an advocate in parental involvemetn in school adn education I would love to hear from you
