In My Own Words

I am a mother of two ADHD children. Fortunately for them I am also ADHD , and began behavior modification with my children as soon as they were diagnosed. I am a certified teacher with almost 20 years of experience teaching pre-k. I work alot with children who are born with ADHD, ODD, and ADD. I understand the unique challenge these children must face to conform to a public school system that is almost never properly equipped to help them. These children should not be separated from their peer groups. It is my belief that if they can function perfectly well in a pre-k classroom the public school teachers who make three or four times the salary I will ever make should be able to offer these children the same environment. With my degree, I am qualified to teach in the elementary schools and people often ask why I choose to teach pre-k. I teach this age group to give these children the sense of skill, self-esteem, and strength I know they are going to need to enter most public or private schools. I teach because I love children, and I work on school reform as much as possible .
