Favorite parenting memories...the first time my kids said "mumma" and used the bathroom by themselves, explaining to our son with PDD that it is not okay to repeat swears even if someone else said it first, taking our daughter "girl" shopping, our first family dinners out teaching the kids how to use a big fork, and watching them sleep.
Pet peeves...having to say "put insert-cat's-name down" every ten minutes, not knowing where my kids are, parents who let their children have free reign and no discipline, not being organized, and watching my husband do housework.
Issues that excite me? The enviroment - and not because its politically correct. I want to have a healthy home and planet that will last until the next ice age at least. We have a fuel-efficient car, use canvas shopping bags and eco-friendly cleaning products, have a veggie garden, and conserve water/electricity.
Typical hectic day...school days are the worst. I get up at the literal crack of dawn with hubby, shower and get ready for my day, then get the kids up and moving. Short days are even harder because that means i have less time to get work done before the bus comes. Then its supper prep, family time, and bedtime routine with lots of drama. We have charts, calendars, white boards, planners, etc and somehow something goes wrong to throw the day off.
Parents I'd Like to Meet
Definitely parents who can fundraise, special needs parents, and others who have a tremendously heavy schedule. Working together to create successful academic/social skills is really important. With new laws (NCLB for one) and a challenging economy, we need to help our children develop positively and understand changes in all aspects of their lives.
