In My Own Words

One of my girlfriends told me that her daughter was having problems at school. Nancy is a single mom; working two jobs, two younger children at home - asked for my help. Nancy’s daughter was repeating senior year in high school and was, yet again, in doubt of graduating. Mary was going to drop out of high school if she didn’t graduate – she would be 20 in February! I found out that her high school was holding Mary to Regents requirements that were not mandatory for high school graduation until the following year. I embarked on a three week battle with her high school, and the parent support center for our district and won! Mary graduated that June, enrolled and graduated from our local community college. Word spread that I was able to help with difficult situations, pushing kids to stay in school, providing them and their families with resources, college search, and financial aid www.getthecap.com
