In My Own Words

I am not a parent myself, but education is a very important issue for me. I was lucky enough to attend a great college and I have seen the doors which that has opened for me. In college I majored in Chinese History, which eventually led me to live in Beijing for a year, teaching English. I taught a variety of ages at two schools, one of which was a Korean international school. Not only did I gain a greater appreciation for my own teachers and professors, but I saw first hand the importance of multilingual education in this age of globalization. My time at Mount Holyoke (a women's college) also got me interested in the unique issues that girls and women face in education and in learning more about single gender education at all levels. I am also concerned about the roll of the military in our schools. Lastly, I am interested in finding ways to ensure that all kids are accepted for who they are, no matter what their differences from those around them.

Parents I'd Like to Meet

I am interested in meeting others who are interested in multiligual and single gender education and school diversity.
