In My Own Words

My children and their education and opportunities are a passionate subject for me. While I am not a financially wealthy person, I am also unusual (I believe) that I am less concerned with how much I pay in taxes for public education as much as I am about how the money is spent, is it being used wisely, and in the best interest of our students. While I advocate for my child, I also advocate for all children in our local school district. Academics have also been my focus in the past, however, I have learned and accepted that Athletics and Extra-Curricular activities also often plan in important role in Academics (motivation, etc.). I believe it is important that we strive to ensure that all three of these compliment each other and support possitive growth in our children. My greatest joy is having the opportunity to participate and observe (or be there) with both the small everyday accomplishments of my children as well as the major milestones. Seeing the joy and sense of accomplishment in my childrens faces bring the most joy I have ever experienced (may be due in part to my parents not having the same involvement in my growing up). I am a person that seeks solutions, not blame or bashing. It is easy to find fault in just about everything. If you are unwilling to be part of the solution, I have less respect for your opinion.

Parents I'd Like to Meet

Those that wish to advocate and support more, and improved, educational opportunities for children (conventional and currently unconventional). Parents of Gifted and Talented children, to continue to advocate for these students needs, and share ideas and solutions to the challenges of raising a Gifted or Talented child.
