Education Issues That Matter to Me

Getting schools to use appropriate reading methods for LD students, and getting the teachers to understand how much time they need to set aside to provide appropriate reading instruction to students who don't learn to read with "traditional" reading instruction.

In My Own Words

I joined the International Dyslexia Association in 1991 due to my work with an adult in a library based adult literacy program. I also belong to the Learning Disabilities Association. I was very fortunate to get Orton-Gillingham training in a master's degree college course in 1992 from 2 woman who are Fellows in the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practioners and Educators, and recipients of IDA's Margaret Rawson Lifetime Achievement award.
