I love watching my kids learn. I have both a 11 and 3 year old and each one is at a completely different level of learning in their lives. They're both a handful at the moment and it's difficult dealing with the varying degrees of high energy levels (both positive & negative forces, but all very big energies) in my toddler and the eye rolling of my tweener.
Everyday is a trip into realms unexplored and I can never know what to expect. Since my son was born (the toddler) we knew immediately that life would be topsy-turvy, however; we had no idea it would be quite this dramatic! We are still struggling to find our harmony again since he was born. He's as spirited as I was as a child and I don't know what to do to get our family harmony back, although as he grows and learns it does seem to get better at times. Life certainly is a roller coaster!
I'm a practicing Certified Reiki Master. I provide healings in person and long distance as well as provide health products, vitamins and essential oils to keep the body in balance. I am a writer and a nature photographer and periodically will have my photography work in a local community gallery.
My 11 year old just finished her 1st year at a new public school this year with top grades and excellent teachers, with full art, science, music and PE programs, which is a completely different scene for her having come from a very slow-paced Montessori charter with low grades and teachers who are lacking. She's shown that she can keep up with most of the students there, which is great! She ended the school year with mostly A's and B's and one C. I think, considering what school she came from and the fact that I had to augment her education at the last school and during summer with homeschooling and tutoring, she did beautifully. My son has been attending a Jewish preschool. This has been very rewarding for him; they are both doing well in their new environments.
I volunteer my time whenever I can at both schools. And both schools have an expectation of volunteerism. My son's school has a 10 hr requirement, and my daughter's school has an unspoken expectation, but they're not rude about it if you don't.
I am faced with my own challenges as I have Multiple Sclerosis, so finding a balance with being a wife, mother, artist and school volunteer has been quite tricky at times. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I'm able to participate, and sometimes I'm stuck at home unable to do much of anything at all.
Parents I'd Like to Meet
I'd love to meet with parents who are down to earth, who have extremely "spirited" toddlers who have tried different ways to find a harmonious way of living.
I'd also love to meet more moms (also in my city) with children in my kids' age range 11 & 3.
