In My Own Words

Hi, my name is Ashley Zorn, i am the mother of Lyric Brandon who attends Central Elementary in Cabot, AR. She is currently in Kindergarten and loves it. She has the most wonderful teacher. Most of my parenting memories include her very early childhood when she was around 2 or 3. She use to love washing the car with her daddy and going fishing with her daddy, and i would just sit back in the sun with the camcorder trying to catch every glimps of the two of them. And of course the very short and lop-sided first snowman her and her daddy built toghether lol.....My pet peeves, most definately, include parents not teaching their children manners, morals, repect, obedience, and daily life lessons. My thing i guess is Education, i get so aggrivated when i hear of a child going into kindergarten and not knowing their alphabet or numbers or any kind of educational fundamentals. If parents nowadays would just spend 1 hour everyday teaching their children with these wonderful little education books from Walmart instead of putting their children infront of a TV and using it as a babysitter, then these children would blossom into young adults educationally! I push my daughter to strive for her best in whatever she chooses to do. My down fall is probably pushing her too much. By the time my daughter was 3 years old she was counting in Enlish, Spanish, and German, and knew her colors in Eglish and Spanish. She knows how many sides all the shpaes have including a pentagon, hexagon, and an octagon. She is a very smart child and amazes me at her learning capabilities. I only push her to the point of advancement not aggrivation. Things that get me really excited in life are, picking up my daughter from school and seeing the smile on her face realizing that i hadn't forgotten about her lol, and looking in her folder to see another smiley face on a perfectly done paper to hang on the refridgerator, and having my little chef help cook dinner and do other household chores and then stand back and she says wow mom i did a really great job huh? She seems to learn something new each day and i'm so blessed to be a part of that and watch her grow everyday. She is such a miracle and blessing to me.

Parents I'd Like to Meet

Well i cant say that i have a hectic life trying to balance work and home, but it does get a little crazy at times lol....my husband and sister are both deployed, my husband in Iraq and my sister in Quatar. I am responsible for taking care of my sisters home while she is away, and also taking care of 2 dogs and 2 Cats, plus my daily tasks as a mother and the maid, the chef, and the dry cleaners lol....and of course everyones challenge of paying all those unwanted bills lol...i would love to meet other parents who have some insight on how to juggle things like this. Military wives and single mothers i think i could best relate to. And very young mothers i might have a trick or two to teach, who knows. I was a very young mother (19 barely). We all make mistakes, but we just have to learn to do everything we can to provide the best way we know how for our children. Support groups, thats what we need. There's nothing better than someones opinion on a situation looking from the outside in. Alot of times if your going through something thats really tough, its nice to have support of other people and their advice. But remember that advice and opinions are greatly appreciated but you dont always have to act on theirs, just trust your gut and do what you think is right.
