I attended schools where many of my peers shared the same culture and economic benefits as my family.  However, I have chosen to send my kids to schools that have a diverse population.  I guess, I did this trying to ensure that my kids get gain an attitude of acceptance.

How important is diversity in education to you and your family?

Re: How important is diversity in school?
There are a lot of things that we can learn from other cultures which are amazing, interesting, useful, informative, there would be more understanding of values and customs.

Yes mamachela, what it is more important is that our kids start with a good cultural value no matter the race so they can grow up and make this world a much better place than the one we have now, kids can learn about each other culture, so it would be more acceptance and tolerance towards others.

I also attented a school where everyone was of similar backgrounds. Diversity is one of the most important factors for me in choosing a school for my daughter. The world we live in is becoming more and more global every day. I think it is only fair to our children to help them learn about other cultures and languages early on.

You're right tobbyandlui, our kids need understand the diversity of our country because USA is now a country of diversity cultural and is more easy so the kids start in a early age be friends and have friends. In the school of my son and daughters there are many cultures mixed in all the classrooms and my son is happy to have friends of differents races. For me personally,I think is important because all are equal and this is the more important cultural value so can give to my kids, the tolerance, compassion for others and acceptance.

I think is good to send your kids to a school that has diversity, they can understand other people's customs, be able to get along with kids of different races, learn from different cultures, socialize, etc.
