There are so many of you out there that want some closure when it comes to FCAT. What if everyone stood up and said we are not taking this test. It is a seed planted within me, what about you. Let's stop complaining and see what can really be done. I would love to know if anyone has precident setting info on this thought. Let's post info. that you may have on what our rights are and help start a grass roots movement to end this test. One day we may be able to stand up and say our children won't take this test. We will be able to stand up and ask our state for better reform. We are one of the wealthiest states in the union and are currently 48th in the country in education. What has FCAT done for us in the past 10 years? We were higher 10 years ago. I have read many documents stating that the state of Florida has no real legal action they can take if a child refuses to take FCAT. There is also no state law that says they can hold back a students diploma, and yet it happens every year. I would like to start a file of documentation that supports this theory. If anyone has such info. please post it. I would also like to start a network of sites that I can give out to help parents with graduation requirements and alternatives, if the FCAT tests are not working to their advantage. Knowledge is power and I would like this site to be a font of information that you can empower yourself with when addressing your school board. I have spent years duking it out with the system and I am ready to make a change-how 'bout you? I have signed petitions, sent letters, posted and complained on websites, researched-researched-researched, nothing changes; or more accurately things change for the worse. Armed with documentation- let's just all stand up and say, "We won't take the test". I want real education- how 'bout you!
