I would love to get ideas for a class project for my daughters 5th grade class. Has anyone done anything for their childrens class or school?

When I was in school we had a Huge Earth day Assembly. It really brought awareness.

The next year we did a school and community project. We cleaned up the school.

I was hoping to do it as a hands on project that will use all of their skills. Perhaps writing congress officials, Planting seedlings, etc. We don't have a class party after Valentines day so this would be nice.

I would like to plan something ASAP so it can be organized in time.

I believe the local nurserys supplied many of the plants to the school. Its great free advertising for them to help out. It truly is a beautiful garden that we are still proud of. A little TLC to an ugly school lawn is all it took.

I have never heard of a rain garden!
It is so awesome for the students to see the positive feeling when a community comes together like that.

I am going to look up the site.

Thanks for the idea Hockeymom

Our school created a "Rain Garden"
Located at an elementary school opposite an Environmental Reserve, this site has a direct impact on the quality of the areas primary salmon-bearing stream. The entire school population was involved in the creation of this rain garden, which infiltrates rainwater runoff from the school parking lot.

This is a website that featured what our school did and before and after pictures.
It even looks more beautiful now. :)
