Babble.com just published their  list of "21 Delightfully Weird Family Vacations," filled with some interesting spots.

From "Foam-henge" in Virginia to "Craters of the Moon" in Idaho, this list is filled with weird and whimsical spots that are just so... American (and I mean that in a good way).

Personally, I'd like to go against the chicken in Chicken Tic Tac Toe. :-)

Re: Looking for a different kind of family vacation?
In Florida,

dhfl143, you missed the Kegel Training Center in Lake Wales. Seriously, probably not important to nonbowlers, but when my son competed in Nationals a couple of years ago, we drove an hour from Orlando just to visit our version of Mecca. :)

As for SoCal, there's always Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village in Simi: home.roadrunner.com/~echomatic/bv/index.html

and along the same line, the Watts Towers:
