I'm almost finished reading my new years resolution...which was to finally read a "classic" novel cover to cover.   I picked Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and I fell in love with it.

So I really want to read another  "classic" novel and need suggestions. The only criteria I have is that I don't know the story to well before hand. Which leaves out all of Jane Austen, Mark Twain and Margaret Mitchell.

What classic did you fall in love with?

Good choices! My daughter also read Wuthering Heights in her junior year of high school.

Sounds like you've got a good start on your summer reading!!!

Btw, I read the Twilight books, and was hooked! The first one was the best, IMO.

I got my three reads purchased and ready for my flight and trip in 2 weeks. Frankenstein, A Tale of two cities and Wuthering Heights.
Wuthering Heights wasn't my idea but my daughter's who also wants to read it. Apparently Bella in the Twilight series was reading it and now she wants to read it also..(the power of books ..lol).

Ooo, as an English major I have a lot of recommendations.
In addition to Mary Shelly's "Frakenstein," Bram Stoker's "Dracula" is very good and scary!
"The Count of Monte Cristo" is super fun but you may know the story already.

I love love love "The Great Gatsby," "Franny and Zoey" by JD Salinger, and "The Sun Also Rises" by Ernest Hemingway.

If you're into short stories, one of my all-time favorite collections is, "A Good Man Is Hard to Find", by Flannery O'Connor, as well as (and I realize these are more contemporary), "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love," by Raymond Carver.

A great website for book lovers is GoodReads.

They have a huge list of classic literature.
Happy Reading!
