In observance of National Donut Day, both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts will offer a free donut on Friday.

Krispy Kreme is offering one, no strings attached.  And Dunkin' Donuts offers one with purchase of a beverage.

So if you like your snacks round with a hole in them, Friday is your day. :)

What's your favorite donut?

Re: Free Donut Friday!
MM, when you say "as round as you are high," do you mean tall or do you mean "high??" LOL
This is a joke!

Re: Free Donut Friday!
We've been very fortunate in all our Team USA travels that the kids have had the opportunity to try different regional chains.

My son has been in love with Tim Horton's since he was 9 because the idea of soup, coffee and a donut as a combo was the most incredible thing in the world.

It's probably a VERY good thing that we don't have all these chains around here or I'd be as round as I am high.

MM, I agree with MSMomm; since you guys have no Tim Hortons (and I consider that a deprivation!! :) you may get a much less expensive franchise! hummm?? :)

Re: Free Donut Friday!
I love Tim Hortons...their cafe mocha is to die for til I found out that it had 7 points! Now those mocha's are only for holidays! :) Indeed I had timbits this morning! Both my boys had their picnic and I was part of the "setting up" event so I did not have time to eat any breakfast. Bless my friend who showed up with Tim Horton's coffee (the big box) and tim bits....you have no idea how good they tasted at 10:30am!! Yeah...I'm off to my "really brisk walk" now! LOL

MM:

Just a thought -- you could open a Tim Horton's in the Valley and hire some high school students looking for summer jobs! :) Just adding a bit o'humor here!

My kids enjoy Krispy Kreme donuts, as do I, but I don't go out of my way to buy them. In fact, we don't frequent any donut shops (we've got more than enough to add to the waistline!).

Re: Free Donut Friday!
I honestly don't think Krispy Kremes are the best donuts in the world. They have a great PR campaign, and give free samples to the kids, which makes them legendary among the younger set. What they have that makes the place magical for me as a parent is their glass wall that allows everyone to watch the entire donut-making process. My daughter and her friends can stand there rapt for hours--which gives us parents a good bit of coffee and conversation time.

When Krispy Kreme first opened in these parts, my son was probably in fifth grade. We were in that one-hour line to try one, and thankfully we haven't had to stand in a line that long since. Many have closed due to overexpansion right as the anti-carbs crusade started, but truthfully, we're happy with the one still in the area, and if we're there, we'll stop for a cup of coffee and a donut.

For me, it's either the spice donut in the fall, or the lemon. :)

We don't have Dunkin' Donuts in our part of the country, so when we travel, my daughter goes crazy for Munchkins. I'm more a fan of Tim Horton's but those are truly regional. If they ever want to have a franchise in L.A., I'd be first in line. :)

Powder Jelly!

Its funny though Krispy Kremes are just not popular where I live. They have only one store in the whole province and its a ghost town. It opened to huge expectations (all the american hype) and media and 2 hours lines for about the first 5 days and then no one came back.
