With this Friday being the 4th of July, I figure I'll get the ball rolling and ask, what are everyone's plans for the 4th?

MagnetMom, hope you are having a great time here in Michigan. If you get a chance, check out the Greek Town downtown Detroit. Also Al-Ameer Restaurant in East Dearborn (you are fairly close to it)...very authentic Labanese food.

We're staying in Warren, but the next two days the kids are bowling down at Skore in Taylor. We've been as far as Waterford and as close as Sterling and Sunnybrook. It's been a chaotic week so far trying to schedule stuff between the bowling (for 12 families and several coaches), but I will say the $4.05 a gallon gas is making us smile. We'll be returning to $4.73 no doubt.

What an interesting experience! Coming from California, home of tinder-dry brush, the kids were treated to the spectacle of home-blown fireworks. We've never seen neighborhood displays that rivaled that of Disneyland. Amazing!

I'm not sure I want to see people lighting off fireworks in their front lawns, but driving down the street it was truly amazing.

All sound like great ideas. I'll be travelling to Detroit with a dozen kids who are competing this week for spots on Jr Team USA in bowling. So it's not a traditional 4th with hot dogs and fireworks, but we are thinking about and trying to represent our country. Too bad we get there too late to celebrate Canada day :)
