Hi All,

Our family is moving to the Martinsburg WV area within the year. Our son is 14 and in the 9th grade has aspergers syndrome as well as some other issues. We are in a great school in MA but I am trying to find out info on schools in the Martinsburg area. Our son is high functioning and is extremely intelligent. Does anybody know if they have public collaborative schools in this area. Or maybe some pointers as to who to contact in this area for school info. Also looking into Special Olympics in this area.

Any imput will be great!

Thanks so much,

Theresa

Re: moving to Martinsburg West Virginia area
Hi Theresa:

I have a 13 year-old son with Asperger's, too, although we don't live in West Virginia.

Are you familiar with the Autism Society of America? I like to recommend parents to take a look at the ASA's website: www.autism-society.org/site/PageServer. There's a link there at the bottom left called "State Resources," which may prove helpful in finding local chapters of ASA. You can contact that local office for suggestions on schools and other organizations that may benefit your son.

I'm also attaching a link to the Special Olympics website: www.sowv.org/. Does your son participate in sports?

Please let us know what you've found out.
