Dhfl143 brought the attached article from Education Week to my attention:  www.edweek.org/dd/articles/2009/09/09/04autistictech_web.h02.html#players.  The article discusses a few new digital products to assist in more productive communication between parents of children with Autism and teachers.  Studies have found that 1 in approximately 150 children have Autism, and finding new ways to communicate and teach children with Autism in the classroom has become a prevalent topic.

The article also discusses the flip side of using too much technology with Autistic children.  Autistic children typically lack the social skills necessary to make friends and communicate with others, their peers especially.

Has your child been able to take advantage of assistive technologies at their school?  If so, have you seen benefits in their education?
