Hi everyone and thank you for checking out the new group I'd like to start. More and more homes have a two income family and that stops the help of a mother or father in being a part of their child's classroom, room mother's are getting fewer and I have been a "room-grandmother" for my granddaughter's classroom since she began kindergarten. I also help out in the library as they need a lot of volunteer work to put on Book Fairs, fund raisers, Make a Miracle help, Box Top collection, etc. I enjoy it so much especially when my little angel comes into the library and sees me helping. I stay in touch with her teacher and offer any service I might could be of help, reading to the kids, doing a show and tell story, and as you can see by my picture, I play Mrs. Claus each year forthe children that do not have the money to have their picture taken with Santa. I sit in a rocker and read to them, or have them sing and then I get to pass out the candy canes. It has been the most rewarding help I can give to the school, teachers and make it special for my granddaughter. I now have a grandson in kindergarten and I plan to help out in his room, too. My mind swirls with ideas whenever a holiday or special event is coming up and I love to go to track and field days. We can also give a large helping hand to the teachers on field trips as most parents cannot attend. I promise it will be the most exciting experience you will remember forever and your grandchildren will think you are so "cool" for "working" at the school and occasionally surprising them with a special disguised visit that takes them a while to figure out it's you! It is an memory they will never forget as long as they live and it brings you so much closer to them. So if you are a non working grandmother like me, put off your chores and cleaning till after school hours. I promise, you won't regret it. Hope to see a lot of new friends for this group, and call me Melly, that's what my grandchildren call me. Bye for now!
