My daughter, Blythe is in third grade. A typical highly motivated kid, she has dreams that she's not really as smart as she tests out to be, works hard to have people understand her and want to be able to communicate with all kinds of people in the world.

We live in Oakland CA and my daughter attends a great public school She also attends German Saturday School and has since she started Kindergarten. She still wants to attend German School, but is interested in taking other languages as well. Most of the Saturday language schools happen at the same time, so taking another language requires some playing with out schedules.

So, my question to the group is - How many languages in third grade are too many? Which languages are your children learning or do they want to learn? Do you speak any other languages in your home (we speak only English)? Do you have family culture issues which affect your attitudes about languages?

I look forward to hearing from you.
