I thought I would put up a welcome post for all new members or even older members to post in.

This can be a place where we all can introduce ourselves to each other.  A way to get to know each other a little better :).

I am Jsillymom. I am a mom of two sons. I have been a stay at home mom for six years now.  My oldest was two and half years old and my youngest was six months old when I became a SAHM.

Being a SAHM has had it's ups and downs but I wouldn't trade a moment of it.  I hope this group will help us all share those times when we need a little encouragement or maybe even to brag a bit about our children :).  So Welcome to the group or Welcome back.  Let us know a little bit about you. :)

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
To sbozarth23... Sorry that you are feeling stressed. I wish I had good advice for you. I was not good at being a working mother. I hope you have good friends and family members nearby who you can count on to help you, and just someone to talk to when you are stressed. Remember to take care of yourself with rest (both sleep and relaxation), good diet, and some exercise. If you're not taking care of yourself eventually it comes back to haunt you and then you can't take care of family or work!

Welcome to Stay At Home Parents ImTheMom.

I recently went back to work, and it's been a real challenge for my family. I have the same feelings you described having when you were at work. You were right when you said you have to decide what's more important to you and find a way to make it happen.

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
Hi - I'm a SAHM to a 10-year old daughter. I decided to stay at home when she was born because my husband and I looked at a huge variety of day care options and not one of them seemed like a really good idea. I'm very happy with our choice and notice a big difference emotionally, socially, and academically in my child as compared to others who have parents who are working, or just not very involved in their children's lives.

My husband was self-employed for a while, and after 9/11 his business took a nose dive. I went back to work for about 2 years, and it was the hardest thing for all of us in the family. I constantly felt torn. When I was at work, I felt neglectful towards my daughter. There was always something I was missing, and when I got home I was exhausted, and not giving her much attention. When I was with my daughter, I always felt like there was work I should be doing, or even just some project around the house needed attention.

Now, I'm back at home full-time. I have the time and attention to dedicate to my family. Sure, we miss the extra 6-figure salary I gave up, but life is not all about money. We live differently now. I can't remember the last time we took a nice vacation (oh, yeah, it was the year I was pregnant, while I was still working). But I feel like I'm (daily) able to pay attention to the important things in my life as a SAHM, and that's what is really important to me.

Now that my daughter is 10, I'd love to find part-time work that I can do during the school day, but I can't go back to what I did on a part-time basis. Maybe someday I'll find some interesting and rewarding work that I can do part-time.

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
hi everyone,
I am also a sahm just got laid off few months ago and now I am staying home with my beautiful kids and finally spend more times with them and be able to take them to the park every evening, and have more times to read with them. I just join to some kind of Internet Marketing School and hopefully it works and make a few bucks to help my spouse with the bills. Still looking for another part time job but staying home and spending time with my kids is what i really want.

I am glad you are liking the group too :). Nice to meet you. Your Eccentric and I am Silly mom lol. Sounds like we will get along nicely LOL. Your boys are the same ages as mine. Though my youngest will be 7 in Jan :( and my oldest will be 9 in March.

I just don't understand it... I have been a SAHM now for six years now and have homeschooled my boys for four years now and time still goes by too fast ugh. Where is that pause button when you need it?

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
Hey Jsillymom,

I'm eccentric (no really I am!:) and I have been a SAHM for almost a year now. I have 2 boys, 6 and 8. Now that I am home, I wonder why I made this decision sooo late! I love spending my time with the boys although there are times when I think WHY, my 6 year old gives me a hug and asks me if I needed a head rub! I have the luxury of working as a consultant from home which is great. My husband and my boys love it that I'm home and really, I have no plans of going back full time!! :)

Thanks for keeping this group interesting.

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
That's ok no worries. Computers can be a nightmare sometimes. Last week I had to do a total restore on my computer because it was acting up ugh. It's running fine now though.

I was a CNA at one time about 11 years ago (wow was it really that long ago? LOL) . It's nice getting to know everyone a little bit.

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
HI! I'm guess you would say I'm an old member since I've joined for more than a couple of months. We've moved from southern Calif. the end of last Dec. and I've been a SAHM since then.

I have two children. Our daughter is 18 and our son is 9. Last school year was very rough for our son but this year is a lot better.

Staying a home has its pros and cons. I'm finding that with the economy the way it is finding a part-time job to suppliment our income would be real nice. I'd like to do something so that I can still be home for my son.

I'm looking forward to sharing with this group while also staying in contact with the other groups.

Re: Welcome To Stay At Home Parents
Hi Jsillymom!

I'm a combination stay at home/work from home mom. My husband works from home, too, so we're both involved in the school--a lot. My son is in his first year of college, living on campus but within an half an hour's drive. My daughter is in second grade.

I love that I'm able to be with my kids--to be field trip mom, volunteer mom, and even run back to school with the lunch or backpack mom.

As I'm typing, I'm baking chocolate chip cookies to take to my son and his swim team this afternoon.

I did work full-time straight out of college, but quickly realized I didn't want anyone else raising my kids. The beautiful thing is, 15 years after that decision, I have never regretted it once. Financially, we're not spending our vacations in Cancun, but I think my time is better spent with me being here for my kids.

OK, enough about me, next?
