Hey SAH Moms and Dads,

I just read this article that says you'd be making at least $117,000/Year, if you could get paid for all you do.  Personally, I think it's a low ball figure- I know from experience how much work it is.

Check it out!

I think that the article forgot Executive Chef... I cook a mean meal for EVERY meal on top of cleaning, laundry, limo service, organization specialist, nutritionist, head of public relations, family liaison to school teachers & school personnel, head buyer, gardener, home psychologist, home nurse, teacher, and all the other stuff that we are needed for and expected to do and that our husbands want from us, etc...

I'd say double that number and we're square over here at my house... and that's *with* my MS in the way causing me to need to rest more than the healthy mom. I can only imagine that for someone who's constantly cleaning and folding clothes and running around all the time... that number should be tripled (at least).

When they do these surveys, quite a bit of the "salary" comes from overtime, since the average mom works about 18 hours a day (if I remember the last time they did that survey).

I'd rather think it came from them fully comprehending what it takes to manage a family, a family business, the schedules of 4 people, provide transportation, feed, tutor (did I read that Sylvan charges $50/hr?), etc. etc.

Yeah I think that it's a low-ball figure too. Hey does it add more if you homeschool too? LOL. But then again I think moms in general teach their children anyway (Like helping with homework and volunteering at schools) so maybe not so much LOL.

I'll say it's a lowball figure because the reality is that we really multi-task when we're doing anything, and we're doing the job of two or three people at any one time. :)
