There are lots of opportunities out there to make money, and I've investigated many of them thoroughly.  My Father-in-Law is a top ditributor of direct sales vacuums... you probably have one, or your grandma did!

I've been in Direct Sales for 4 1/2 years now.  I used to be with one of the cosmetics companies, but honestly, there was too little incentive from the company, too little money to be made in my area without major work hours, and this particular company encouraged you to keep inventory. (Some others require it.)  ...I eventually left the company and wondered what I would do.  I wanted to do something with my skills.  And I didn't want to go door to door.

This last October, I was at the Southern Arizona Home Buyers Association Home-Show and I stumbled across a beautiful booth decorated with one of my favorite things - home entertaining items.  Serving platters, cutting boards, cutlery, dinnerware, flatware, trivets, gorgeous ice buckets, vases and pitchers and all sorts of stunning things.  The lady working the booth reached out to hand me something and I wanted to take it and stop but my husband, thinking it was just another sales pitch tried dragging me in the opposite direction.  He was thinking I was just having another "Ooh shiny object!" moment... But I wasn't.  I stopped and looked.

And I'm so glad I did and so is he!  I talked to them.  It was a direct sales company owned by Readers Digest.  It's called Taste of Home Entertaining.  It's fantastic.  When they created this company they took the best of the best from Direct Sales and lumped it all together and they have the best compensation plans, phenomenal car bonuses (Lexus & top of the line Toyotas), vacation incentives, and even a % that goes toward your business supplies.  It functions like the other party plans, you have a party and invite your friends, they buy and book parties. They have a party and their friends buy and book parties (while the hostess reaps very generous rewards) and the snowball effect continues.

In the meantime, you are doing parties about entertaining, which for me and many others is just fantastic and then you can bring others into the company and teach them to do what you do.  They do and you gain a % of their retail.

This summer, I'm going to Florida!  They're paying for an amazing resort extravaganza!  I can't wait.  And I'll be driving around in a sleek new black Lexus in the near future!!

You don't have to be a schmoozy salesperson to sell this - I'm not.  To get this post just right, I had to re-type 3 times!  Seriously, if you put the products on a table with a nice tablecloth, people will ask and you can just answer questions and take orders.  But if you love to entertain, you'll be beaming with delight and that will sell even more for you.

On top of that, Taste of Home actually encourages you NOT to keep inventory.  They know how difficult that makes things and it's costly and nobody really benefits  They see the value in keeping their consultants happy.

The best part is that you can work as much or as little as you like.  I have MS, so I'm limited as to what I can do, and sometimes even when I can do it and how long I can do it.  But Taste of Home allows me the flexibility I need for both my health and my family which is always #1 for me.

I kid you not.  This is amazing.  Check it out for yourself.  You can see the fabulous products and opportunity online through my site:

Re: I Love Working From Home
Child of Ra,

Glad you found a way to be home and make ends meet. My husband and I are both self-employed professionals based out of our home. I wouldn't trade the freedom this offers for the world. When it comes to being able to help in the classroom, going on a field trip, picking up a sick child, and never needing child care, being at home is its own reward. Congrats on finding something that works for you!
