I received a very disturbing call from my Daughter in law yesterday. . The Teacher has singled out my 10 year old grandaughter for whatever reason. My Grandaughter sets at a table by herself. Kids throw paper and junk all around her in an attempt to get her into trouble. they call her names, the one that I was told yesterday was "White Trash B___ch, This is coming from 10 year old children. . Apparently the teacher feels the same way. .Whenever my Grandaughter tells her, she just tells her to quit tattling. .  You know. . if I ever heard that kind of trash coming from my kids or anyone's child , They would definitely pay the price. . they know better. . the fact that yesterday, the teacher apparently spent all day tracking what my grandaughter was and was not doing tells me that this woman is NOT ADULT ENOUGH TO BE IN A CLASSROOM.  There was a moment by moment detailed in everything that she had done or had not done for the entire day. . . This has been an ongoing issue all year with this MS M. . .
My grandaughter has always been a good student A's and B's during all her time in school and still is in her other classes. . Now this Ms M comes along and singles her out and almost begs the kids to make fun of her and pick on her. . . Setting at her table alone, The teacher talking to her ugly all day,  I am sick. . just sick.  My Grandaughter is a very sweet little girl, and would do anything to help anyone and just to be accepted. . She has now received several F's in the Ms M's room and she is shutting down. . She doesn't know how to process this situation.  Oh, and this Ms M has also used the C word in her class and has told the students not to tell. . Someone needs to get these situations stopped. . or there will be a Lawsuit. .  I have 4 weeks of vacation. . I can visit that Ms M's classroom for a month. . And I don't think she really wants me to do that. . OH. . And I can and will pull her out of that school.

Re: STUDENT AND TEACHER BULLYING
I understand exactly what you mean,my son was made to sit on the steps of the stage where people walk with their dirty shoes, TO EAT HIS LUNCH.I was livid and when I approached his teacher she replied that OTHER kids had to do it also but I told her that if I found out that it was done again to ANYONE'S child, I'd call the health department.Teachers do bully,it's out ther and it's and ugly thing for a child to experience and far more unbearable when it's done by a teacher or any other adult staff member. When he was in the second grade he had a teacher make his group touch a cotton swap doused with her cheap perfume and they were made to wipe it on their clothes because she said someone in that particular group smelled like something a dog left behind.I would go and sit in her classroom for as long as it takes because believe me, she will forget you are there and slip one day. This is why I believe teachers should be monitored in the classroom.Hope your grand daughter has better luck next year.

Re: STUDENT AND TEACHER BULLYING
You daughter in law needs to go in and observe as soon as possible. Of course this is terribly upsetting and no child should be treated this way.
But to stop this, your daughter in law and you if you can must be calm and it's hard to stay calm in the face of this. Such teachers and the schools that protect them need to be outsmarted.
Your idea of volunteering in the classroom is a Wonderful Idea! Ask your daughter in law to schedule a meeting with the teacher and school guidance counselor and accompany your daughter in law to the meeting. But first your daughter in law - and you - should go in and observe quietly in the back of the room. Make an appointment beforehand and plan to spend a few hours.
With what you've seen in hand, go to the meeting with the teacher and let the teacher talk - don't disagree - it serves no purpose and then say " Here's where we'll go from here. From now on .... it's not apppropriate to have a child sitting at a table by herself. And to be sure she does all that we need her to do - her grandmother will volunteer in the classroom. She'll be there to help in any way she can with all the children and certainly my daughter will be on her toes with her grandmother in the room."
Good luck with this - I hope you'll let us know how it turns out.

Re: STUDENT AND TEACHER BULLYING
My mother in law works for the school department, and she tells me she sees teachers ride kids intill they can't take it anymore and the poor kid explodes, and in return the boy gets punish, when the teacher starts this in the first place. you ever hear of some parents really raising hell, I use to think they were crazy, but now I understand how parents can get that way, you end up becoming so frustrated they eventually make you blow up, and I got to tel you, I've parents who do this, and it works. I'm not saying all teachers are bad, no not at all, there are teachers who want to teach, and enjoy teaching , they don't complain about more money, but then there are others, I was told you can also report this to DSS. Do what you have to to get help.I had this happen to my son and, I'm a passive person, I feel so bad now looking back, that I didn't do anything more. I was glad he was changing schools and when he did, he did great, good grades, like his teachers. sometimes it is the teacher or teachers.

Re: STUDENT AND TEACHER BULLYING
Excuse my language...but SCREW THAT worried granny.....Currently, I have been dealing with an issue at my sons school.....He;s got this lil sociopath tauning him and the other day he upped it a notch by shoving my son....EVERY time my sons turns the other way...This has been going on for over a month. I felt as though I was getting nowhere with the school teachers and principles so I drafted up a letter for the Principle and the boys parents. YOu can even do one for your School Superintendent...The main thing is DOCUMENTATION.....Send it someway where you have proof it was delivered..Certified Mail, Signature request...whatever...If you send it to at least five different people they cannot ALL say they never got it. I found a notification of harrassment form on the net and filled it out with dates and all.....It really looks like I am threatening to sue!!! Which I have no quams doing if he hurts my kid!!! The teacher situation is ridiculous though....Put her in her place....Send a letter to her principle AND the Superintendent....We only have a month left of school here, but my kids gotta go to middle school with the boy next year so I nipped it in the bud. Also, very helpful.....google your state and find out what their bullying laws are...Quote those in your letter....and be persistant....It's for your baby.....

Re: STUDENT AND TEACHER BULLYING
WorriedGranny:
Please go and actually SEE what's going on. (there's only like 25 days of school left here in FL)
I would also schedule a meeting with her mother, you, the principal, guidance counselor and anyone else at this school that has authority.
Since she has 'always' been an A-B student they MUST see that 'something' is going on with your grand daughter.
As for this teacher saying the "C" word and asked the class "not to tell" tells me allot about this so-called teacher. SHE, not your grand daughter needs to MOVE on.
I wish you the best.
