i have two boys that just graduated from 8th grade last week and i'm trying to find a high school for them. they have been in charter schools since 1st grade. i really like the charter schools, they remind me of private school without the tuition. i am not impressed with the detroit public system. i don't really know what to look for but i'm looking at the test scores, environment, teachers, and safety. i want them to have extra-curriculm activities but i'm focused on math, reading, and business......something that can prepare them for the next step....a good college!

if any one can help me that would be great!

Re: Looking for a High School in the Detroit Metro area
I live in Detroit near 8mile and telegraph and yes Southfield High is a good school however you have to be a resident of Oakland County to go there. I'm looking at Academy of Oak Park (Mendota) in Ferndale and Bradford Academy in Southfield.....both charter schools. i started late looking for high schools and some have a waiting list, but i'm still open for suggestions. thanks for responding.

Hello,
Not sure if you have found one or not. but, It really depends on where you are living. Southfield High is a good place to start, My oldest daughter graduated from there 2004. The better High Schools in my opinion are in the Suburbs. Thats why I moved to Rochester. My youngest daughter graduated from Rochester Adams High school this year. It is a wonderful school, my son is entering the 10th grade...he was struggling and they helped him pull his grades up in his 9th grade year. If you can tell me the area you have decided to live, maybe I can better assist you.
