Hi.. I am wondering if any of your kids have social security benefits due to disabilities.. I tried to apply for Nicolas,, who has ADHD< Epilepsy , a heart defect and a LD... I was told over the phone that we own 2 cars and make too much money and have more than $2000 in the bank to qualify.. When Nic is 18, he can apply... I have heard of kids getting benefits before and was wondering  if there is a loophole that I am unaware of... thanks..

I don't know the answer, but you could try posting your question on www.lawguru.com, and perhaps an attorney who specializes in those kinds of issues/benefit appeals will respond....

Re: social security
I know some families establish trusts for their children to avoid the "too much money" problem. You can research various types of pooled and family trusts. However, I am not sure if that will help in your case. The people I know in this scenario have children with very severe disabilities. Good luck though!
