It is this time of year again, where I am surfing for sites, that will help me at home with my child to learn her school lessons. Since  I do a lot of ' re-teaching '  at home, I am looking for clear, step-by-step worksheets especially in areas of math and written language.

This is why I have started a new thread, where other parents can inform others what they do at home using Internet resources - free or at a fee.  Below are some sites that I have used or will be using in the new school year.

This year I was surprised at the wealth of free education tools, especially in grades 7 and up. I also ran into a reading intervention  program, offered by the state Florida for the younger children.  This might be helpful for parents and perhaps teachers. The site is located at:

reading.net">www.free-reading.net

I also found two great math resources in the form of  text books and visual examples of important math concepts from pre-algebra and up.

www.totallyfreemath.com

www.learnwithoutlimits.com

The above links I found through this site, which is                   www.textbookrevolution.org

This site contains many free textbooks at the college level, but there is some for grade 7 to grade 12.

I also found a site, that may be useful to get ideas for children who have dyslexic problems, concerning note taking.  My child will be using this form of note-taking but with some modifications. I hope it will work.

tinyurl.com/5hmfvw

The site is called www.beingdyslexic.co.uk and the above is found under the information link.

Another math site that I have been using for reviews, as a studying tool and using the tests as a way to see if my child knows her math concepts for the past 2 years. This has been extremely helpful to my child.

It is called the Centre for Innovation in Mathematics Teaching, located in the UK.  The site is at tinyurl.com/5knm3t

Re: Free sites that may help your LD child to learn?
Wow! Appreciate list of resources. We do quite a bit of re-teaching ourselves; and, I know that we will put some of these to good use. THANKS!

Also check out www.ldonline.org/parents They also have a section for educators that may help you find materials.
