I really want my daughter to get the help she needs with reading. I think that Lindamood Bell might be the way to go. But the only site in my state is about two hours away. I'm not sure what to do. I don't know how long the classes last, and even if this is an option.

Lindamood Bell is an exellent program and worth the investment and time, but 2 hours is a long way. Have you contacted them to find out what they suggest? Often there are ways to work out a program when the clinic is so far. Have you considered becoming trained yourself? Where are you located? There are lots of clinics who implement Lindamood Bell techniques within their programs.

What city, state are you in?

We drive 40 minutes each way, and that is do-able. 2 hours does seem prohibitive.

Lindamood-Bell is very good, but so are the other O-G trained people (Wilson, Barton, Project Read, etc), or the people trained in Phono-Graphix. I would look for any of those and then ask a bunch of questions and talk with other parents who have used the service to make sure that the person is effective. Each system says they are the best, but they are all very effective.

Are there any Scottish Rite Centers in your area? They offer tutoring services for free. Another option might be to tutor yourself using Barton Reading and Spelling (www.bartonreading.com).

I personally know of individuals that have travelled the distance to go to a Lindamood Bell center and they were not disappointed by the progress their child made.

Hope you find something that works for you and your family.
