My son 8 year oldwill be taking the math and reading in a few days.We have been working hard over the last few weeks. His have improved, but when he doesn't put the effort he makes countless mistakes. I'm really nervous about this test, more so than he is. I do not think he comprehends than if he fails he will be retained.
(anyone child taking the FCAT? )

The topic here is fcat anyone,I say NO-NO-NO.this is a hurtful test to our kids and stress to the kids, parents, and teachers.I be glad when they take this out of our schools.
In our school there is passing and failing of the fcat. Anyone scoring a level 1 fails level 2 is failing but will not push retention hurray for level 3 or higher!!
Deeyana I really doubt that my daughter did well on the reading. But at least she felt ok with it. She didnt know any of the math so that was a big guess just hope she guessed right! Tommorrow we have the norms test yipee. I really want to do the barton reading with her but she doesnt work well with me and its a big expence that I really dont have the money for. Im torn:((
Re: FCAT in grammar school.
There are no passing/failing grades for FCAT.
Most parents fail to understand that.
It's all about achievement, comparatively speaking.
What do you think about FCAT?
What does your child's teacher(s) think about FCAT?
The only learning that is focused upon is what's on the FCAT.
Think about it.
If you were in school before FCAT, or similar standardized testing, I bet you learned more than math and reading (add a little science for 5th grade).
How many parents can help their children with their math homework,
with ease?
I'll take a poll.

eany meany miny moe, that's cute. I bet the look on your face was priceless.
It seems that some teachers did not get to cover everything that was given on this test. I spoke to several parents who told me their children never seen some of the math. The teachers pretty much told them to guess.
