Parent groups are doing a lot more than having bake sales to raise money for their schools. Some are setting up nonprofit foundations or helping their schools get corporate grants.  Some are successfully reaching out to wealthy individuals and businesses to contribute. I'd love to see how parent groups have done this!

Re: Big Ideas for School Fundraising
That sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately, I can't even get the parents to send in $3 for party money at school. By the end of the year, I've spent upwards of $200 for classroom parties.

Re: Big Ideas for School Fundraising
When I was involved in my local schools' foundation, we did two big fundraisers each year: a direct mail campaign where we asked each family to contribute $125 per child and a dinner dance at a local hotel. For the dinner dance, we asked local businesses to become underwriters at different financial levels. We saw local fundraising skyrocket from a few thousand dollars a year to over $500,000!
