Even with the addition of the writing section in the new SAT, studies seem to say the new SAT is not much better at predicting college grades or success than the old SAT was.

Re: New SAT test not much better at predicting college success than the old test
Does that surprise you, healthy?

All the SAT means to me is that someone figured out how to take the test successfully. While I'm not in the "it's not fair because it discriminates against poor kids" camp, I'm also pretty sure that some kids test better than others, some kids have some advantages that others don't, etc. That doesn't make it fair, but I am far more confident that my son has a 4.0 in the 14 units he took at community college than I am about his 2050 SAT score. Heck, given how many of my son's friends abused the system to get extra time for imaginary issues (and I am not talking about kids with legitimate reasons for extra test time), I'm sure their high test scores actually skew the results the other way. No college is going to pander to these kids.
